• Added: Map any PTT button in the config window. It also has a scanning feature — push any button to detect which key has been pressed and assign it as a PTT key. Broad support for Bluetooth devices and Bluetooth PTT speaker microphones.

TX audio compression (Opus)

When enabled, mic audio is Opus-compressed before sending — reduces TX upload bandwidth. Takes effect immediately after saving.

Monitor TX of other users

When enabled, all connected users hear each other when transmitting. Volume is controlled by the AF Gain slider. Only works via compactor.

Notify when a client connects

Shows a 20-second overlay on the waterfall when another user connects to the compactor. Master access only.

Thetis Server

Host and port of the Thetis TCI server the compactor connects to. New connections use the updated value immediately.

On-screen PTT behaviour

Standard: press and hold to transmit, double-tap to lock. One-click lock: every tap on PTT toggles the transmitter on or off (with safety timer).

PTT Burst Mute (RX to TX delay) 490 ms

Prevents the microphone from transmitting the tail end of the RX audio (speaker burst) when you press PTT. Default is 490 ms.

PTT Lock max. time 3 min

Adjusts the TX bandpass filter edges. Use presets for quick settings or the sliders for fine control. Default is 100 Hz. Off = Thetis manages the TX filter.

TX Profile Switching

Use a different TX profile optimized for your phone's microphone. The original profile is restored when you disconnect.

FM Profile Switching

Use a dedicated TX profile for FM. Switches automatically when selecting FM/NFM mode.

Display Mode

Switch between dark and light background. Useful on devices used in bright sunlight.

Invert Spectrum (Swap IQ)

Default is off. Only use this if the signals appear mirrored. This fixes the display in TCI Remote without breaking your sidebands in Thetis.

S-Meter Mode

Peak is the default and matches standard Thetis ballistics. Max Bin is useful for measuring single-tone CW signals.

Waterfall Pre-Render Width Off

                  OffFull BW
                

Renders additional waterfall data beyond the visible zoom window. When you tune up or down, pre-rendered areas will already have waterfall history instead of a black screen. Higher values use more CPU and memory. Off = only render visible area. Full BW = render the entire 192 kHz bandwidth (default).

If you have a slow phone, please lower the bandwidth or turn it off.

Show Processor Usage

Displays the main thread CPU load percentage as an overlay in the bottom-left corner of the waterfall. High usage suggests device throttling or excessive panadapter framerates.

Use Native VFO Swap (Thetis 2.10.3.14+)

Check this to use the new vfo_swap_ex command. Uncheck if you are running an older version of Thetis.

Lock will also lock the AF Gain

When enabled, activating the VFO Lock will also disable the AF Gain slider to prevent accidental volume changes.

Threshold

Level above which the limiter starts compressing. Lower = more limiting. Default: -2 dB

Knee

How gradual the transition into compression is. 0 = hard knee, higher = softer. Default: 5 dB

Ratio

Amount of gain reduction. 20:1 = heavy limiting, 1:1 = no effect. Default: 20:1

Attack

How fast the limiter reacts to loud signals. Lower = faster response. Default: 5 ms

Release

How fast the limiter stops compressing after signal drops. Lower = snappier. Default: 50 ms

Analyser Smoothing

Smoothing for the audio level meter. Higher = smoother but slower response. Default: 89%

CW Anti-Squarewave Filter

A sharp Low-Pass filter that mathematically removes harsh 3rd/5th harmonics from digitally clipped audio. Set to ~1000Hz when listening to CW to kill the "buzz". 0 = OFF

Fade Envelope

Crossfade length at audio chunk boundaries to prevent clicks. Higher = smoother but adds latency. Default: 64 samples

Jitter Buffer

Target buffer depth for incoming audio. Higher = more resilient to network jitter but more delay. Default: 100 ms

Lag Reset Threshold

When buffered audio exceeds this, the buffer resets to prevent excessive delay. Default: 750 ms

📤 TX MICROPHONE PIPELINE

TX Buffer (TCI)

Server-side buffering for your mic audio. Higher = more resilient but adds TX delay. Default: 50 ms

WS Congestion Limit

Max WebSocket send queue before mic frames are dropped. Prevents runaway buffering on slow connections. Default: 64 kB

Sample Clamp

Hard clip ceiling for mic output samples. Lower = prevents overdriving but reduces dynamic range. Default: 100%

TCI Audio Samples

Number of samples per TCI audio frame. Smaller = lower latency but more CPU and network overhead. Default: 2048

Echo Cancel Noise Suppress Browser AGC

Browser-level audio processing applied to the raw microphone input before TCI Remote processes it. Off by default for maximum audio fidelity. Requires TX restart to take effect. Default: all OFF

🎚️ SOFTWARE MIC AGC

Target RMS

Desired average loudness of your voice. AGC adjusts gain to keep speech at this level. Default: 20% (~-14 dBFS)

Noise Gate

Below this level, input is considered silence and gain is frozen. Prevents gain from rising during pauses. If you are in noisy environments, set the value higher to filter the background noise out. Setting the slider too high might cut out parts of your speech. Default: 8/1000 (~-42 dBFS)

Attack (gain×)

Gain multiplier per frame when input is too loud. Lower = faster gain reduction. Default: 82%

Release (gain×)

Gain multiplier per frame when input is too quiet. Higher = faster gain recovery. Default: 10010/10000

Hold Time

After speech drops below the noise gate, gain is frozen for this duration before normal AGC resumes. Default: 400 ms

Min Gain

Lowest gain the AGC will apply. Prevents the mic from being muted entirely by the AGC. Default: 5%

Max Gain

Highest gain the AGC will apply. Prevents excessive amplification of background noise. Default: 150%

🧪 ANTI-JITTER LAB

These experimental controls target the most common causes of audio clicking, popping, and jittering in WebSocket-based audio streams. Each addresses a different layer of the problem. Changes require an RX audio restart.

AudioContext Latency Hint

Controls how the browser prioritizes audio processing. "interactive" gives the lowest latency but uses more CPU and battery. "playback" gives the browser more room to buffer, reducing glitches on slower devices at the cost of ~50-100ms extra delay. Try "playback" if you hear jitter on older phones. Default: interactive

Bypass RX Limiter

The DynamicsCompressor (limiter) in the audio chain has its own attack/release timing that can cause subtle pumping artifacts — a rhythmic volume fluctuation that sounds like jitter. With a -2 dB threshold and 20:1 ratio, it reacts to nearly everything. Bypassing it removes this processing entirely, sending raw audio straight from the analyser to speakers. Try this if jitter persists even with good network. Default: OFF (limiter active)

Auto-disconnect finished nodes

Each audio chunk creates a BufferSourceNode. Without cleanup, hundreds of dead nodes accumulate, increasing garbage collector (GC) pressure. When the GC runs, it pauses JavaScript, creating an audible click. This option disconnects nodes immediately after they finish playing, keeping memory lean and GC pauses minimal. Disable only for debugging. Default: ON

Use GainNode fade (audio-thread)

Instead of multiplying each audio sample by a fade envelope in JavaScript (main thread), this uses a Web Audio GainNode with linearRampToValueAtTime() which runs entirely on the audio render thread. This means fade processing cannot be disrupted by main-thread activity (waterfall drawing, DX cluster, DOM updates). The tradeoff: each chunk gets its own GainNode, slightly increasing node count. Best combined with Node Cleanup ON. Default: OFF

GainNode Fade Duration

Duration of the GainNode fade-in and fade-out at chunk boundaries. Only used when GainNode fade is ON. Shorter = less audible gap masking. Longer = smoother transitions but may muffle transients. The Web Audio spec recommends 2-5ms for click elimination. Default: 2 ms

Gap Resync Delay

When the playback schedule falls behind real time (a gap), this is how far into the future the next chunk is scheduled. Lower = tighter recovery (less silence) but risks scheduling in the past if the device is slow. Higher = safer but introduces a brief audible silence gap. If you hear periodic clicks, try increasing this. Default: 20 ms

Chunk Overlap

Schedules the next chunk slightly before the previous one ends, creating a tiny crossfade overlap. This fills micro-gaps caused by floating-point duration rounding errors or sample rate mismatches between server and client. Too much overlap causes a "reverb" or "phasing" effect. Start with 0.5ms and increase only if you hear tiny clicks between chunks. Default: 0 ms (no overlap)

⚠️ These are advanced parameters. Incorrect values may cause audio distortion, dropouts, or high CPU usage. Use the RESET button to restore factory defaults. Changes to browser mic constraints (Echo/Noise/AGC) require a TX restart.
